AutoTRAX PCB Designer on Apple iOS

AutoTRAX, a PCB design program, has traditionally been available only for Microsoft Windows. This limitation meant Apple users couldn't run it on their devices without additional software like Parallels to run Windows on Apple's macOS. However, there's now a new development: AutoTRAX has been released for iOS, making it accessible on various Apple devices including iPhones, iPads, laptops, and desktops.

This tutorial video will provide a preview of the new AutoTRAX iOS app on a 2021 Apple iPad Pro. The showcased version is read-only and, at present, doesn't display 3D models of PCBs, although this feature is expected to be added in the near future. The read-only version is free, enabling users to share designs without requiring the full version, and is designed for ease of use.

The tutorial begins by displaying the iPad's screen, highlighting the AutoTRAX iOS app icon. Upon launching the app, viewers are introduced to the first experimental version of the AutoTRAX iOS app, including four sample projects. The tutorial demonstrates navigating through the PCB design of the Dex Arduino project using iPad gestures for panning and zooming. During this, it's noted that control buttons become hidden during interaction and reappear afterwards. The app's performance is emphasized, with high frame rates during both PCB and schematic views.

Further, the settings panel is shown, detailing layer and display item customization options. Other sample projects included in the app are also explored, such as the amplifier project and the serial backpack project, each with their PCBs and schematics.

The simplicity and user-friendliness of the interface are highlighted, along with a glimpse into the 'About' section and the online manual. The tutorial encourages viewers to subscribe to the channel for future updates and tutorials on the AutoTRAX iOS app, and to explore over 200 PCB design tutorials available on the AutoTRAX YouTube channel.

It initially will be just a viewer but a full editor is expected later.
